A Rainy Day

Not much happened today. I went to the mall to go shopping. I have had a gift card from Macy's for the past year and I finally decided to try and use it. I was hoping to find some good shoes but I had no luck. I did find an adorable dress and a good fitting black t-shirt. I really needed another one since I usually end up layering t-shirts under cardigans or dresses in the winter. This week I made a gray skirt and I'm working on another one in a khaki color. My only problem is that they are longer than I want them to be, but the only way I can wear them to school is if they reach my knees. Ya, I know, my schools dress code is ridiculous. We are not allowed to wear shirts with any writing or images on them, and all shirts must have sleeves. Also, we are not allowed to wear plain white t-shirts. It's annoying, but I still manage to show my personal style and still fit dress code.

Tara Donovan

Today I went with my family to the Institute of Contemporary Art. There they had a Tara Donovan exhibit which was absolutely amazing. Tara Donovan takes unconventional items and creates the most gorgeous sculptures with them. In the photo above she took mylar and folded it to form these spherical shapes. All of the sculptures kind of surround you, and it's such a cool effect.
I couldn't find a good image of the entire sculpture. but she made this one out of paper plates.
This sculpture is just cups stacked on top of each other.
This one is made of styrofoam cups put together and the entire sculpture is suspended from the ceiling. The light shines through the cracks in between the cups giving off a nice lighting effect.
Even from a distance I could tell what this was made of. Tara Donovan took pins and put them together in a cube shape. The entire thing is holding itself together, no glue or anything. Tara Donovan's inspiration for this was when she took a small box of toothpicks, turned it over and then pulled the box off. She noticed that the toothpicks still held their cubic shape even after the box was taken off.

Browsing...

I was looking at Nasty Gal and I found some adorable clothing. There's no way I have enough money to buy anything but maybe I can recreate some of it. I especially love those suede and leather pants. How great would those be?

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2008

I absolutely love this dress. It is so adorable. I love the volume of this fabric and the overall shape of the dress.

I absolutely love how textured this dress looks and how floaty and soft it is.

I absolutely love this look. It's so chic and so easy to copy at home.

Pairing the tank top with these pants makes the whole outfit look really chill. You can't help but love the fabric of those pants.

Heres a compilation of some Dolce & Gabanna. I really love the structured garments made out of sheer flowy material; it's a really cool contrast. Also, the t-shirt with the belted skirt and sandals is such a cool look. Luckily it's really easy to copy on your own.
